Frequently Asked Questions

I’d love to chat with you about your space! Please reach out if you have any more questions.

Do I need to help organize?

It’s up to you. I encourage clients to help with the process, especially during the decluttering stage. I have found that having you there to answer questions, explain habits, and help make decisions results in a better end product. However, with a thorough discussion beforehand, I can take your suggestions and get it done on my own. This can be helpful if you think you might second guess decisions or simply don’t have to time to spend worrying about it. Of course, you’re busy and that is when my services can step in to relieve the stress. Let’s talk about your specific needs during the consultation.

Do I need to spend money on containers?

Only if you want to.  I know these purchases are not in everyone’s budget and are happy to work with what you’ve got. Cardboard boxes can be a wonderful solution and one I personally still use. Keep in mind that, besides making your space pretty, containers serve several purposes. They force you to keep the amount of items limited to what will fit inside the container.  They make inaccessible space become usable which can make a huge difference in how many items you can store.  Bins also guide you and your family to maintain the system by having a clear place for everything. I would love to discuss the specific needs of your space and budget during the consultation. I don’t make any money from the products you buy and will not pressure you into anything.

What if I am embarrassed by my mess?

Custom Order is a judge free zone!  Organizing is an ongoing adventure and my house gets cluttered too.  I understand that things can easily get overwhelming.  To be honest, I get excited to see messes and piles!  It means more fun for me.  Above all, I feel honored being invited into your home and promise to be respectful of you and your belongings.

What COVID precautions are you taking?

I will be wearing gloves and a mask at all times, unless discussed beforehand. Of course, any COVID symptoms from me or my family, will require us to reschedule. I kindly ask for the same courtesy from you. Any cancellations due to COVID will receive a full refund. All products/tools I bring into your home will be sanitized before arrival.

Do I have to get rid of stuff?

Short answer-no.  However, please remember that there is a comfortable amount of things that will fit into a space.  Overloading makes a system impossible to maintain and difficult to organize.  Putting too many things into a space is the number one contributor to chaos.  Be assured that I know many things have attached emotions that can make purging difficult.  I promise to be patient, kind, and understanding throughout the process and will never get rid of anything without your permission.

How long will it take?

Every space is different.  The time it takes depends on the size of the space, what items we’re organizing, and what your vision is.  We can figure this all out during the consultation, and I will give you an estimated time while I’m there.

I want to book something, what do I do now?

Yay!  Send me an email or message on social media.  I will respond quickly to set up a consultation.  During the free consultation, I come to your house, look at your space, and discuss your goals or obstacles.  Then I can give you an estimate for how much time it will require and any other recommendations.  While there, we can even book your appointment to get started.

Do I need to provide anything?

I will bring my handy bag of supplies to each job that will have everything I need.  I will leave the trash in your trash cans for removal with your normal garbage.  I will also do a light cleaning when we’ve finished so if you’ve got specific products you’d like me to use, I’d be happy to. Otherwise, I will use what I bring.

What spaces do you organize?

I’ve never met a space I wasn’t excited to organize.  Move ins and move outs are an ideal time to get things in order too.  I love pantries, refrigerators, playrooms, closets etc.  Nothing is off limits.
